Pink Palace Umhlanga Rocks
Our young clients in Umhlanga Rocks asked us to create a Palm Springs-inspired “Pink Palace” with no rules. The brief invited a home full of colour, character and a sense of fun, with a nod to old Hollywood.
We developed a custom design around that distinctive direction. Extensive research made it clear that off-the-shelf pieces would not deliver the complete vision, so we worked with skilled craftsmen to design and manufacture most of the elements ourselves.
Mirrors, furniture, wallpaper and artwork were custom-made or produced specifically for the project. Considering these elements together allowed the colour, pattern and individual pieces to feel part of one coherent interior, rather than a collection of unrelated statements.
The finished home celebrates the exuberance of Palm Springs and the glamour of old Hollywood, translated into a personal home on KwaZulu-Natal’s North Coast. It is an example of how a bold client brief can lead to a highly individual interior through bespoke design and craftsmanship.
